Dayana Yastremska‘s provisional doping ban remains in effect, as the Ukrainian’s latest appeal was denied on Tuesday.
The world No.31 Yastremska was originally suspended in January, having tested positive for mesterolone metabolite. The 20-year-old has absolutely denied the use of any prohibited substances and claims that the substance found in her urine was a result of some form of contamination event.
The Chair of the Independent Tribunal denied the Ukrainian’s request to lift the provisional suspension in late January. Regardless, Yastremska flew to Australia and completed the quarantine period in hopes of playing the Australian Open, as she expected that the Court of Arbitration for Sport would lift her ban.
