BUENOS AIRES, Argentina — Leonardo Mayer defeated Filip Krajinovic 6-4, 6-2, 6-1 to give Argentina a 1-0 lead over Serbia in their Davis Cup quarterfinal on Friday.

The 22nd-ranked Mayer broke Krajinovic's serve at 5-4 to win the first set, then dominated the last two to secure the important opening win in the clay-court tie.

Federico Delbonis will face Serbia's Viktor Troicki in the second singles match later Friday, and Carlos Berlocq and Diego Schwartzman will lead the home team against Dusan Lajovic and Nenad Zimonjic in the doubles on Saturday.
