On November 30th, Daria Gavrilova announced on Twitter that she has officially become an Australian citizen. Congrats, mate!
The Russian-born tennis star, currently ranked No.36, will give a big boost to Australian tennis, becoming the second-ranked player from her new country, behind Grand Slam champion Sam Stosur, who is now ranked No.27 in the world.
It's interesting that the 21-year-old Gavrilova had already played ITF events, including Grand Slams, as an Australian for quite some time, while now she will represent Australia at all events, although the WTA is yet to update her profile page.
