Danielle Collins and Iga Swiatek have joined Madison Keys and Ashleigh Barty as the second pair in the 2022 Australian Open semifinals.
Three years ago, Danielle Collins had a breakthrough run to the semifinals of the Australian Open and now the American repeated the feat with a 7-5 6-1 victory over France’s Alize Cornet in Wednesday’s quarterfinals.
The 27th-seeded Collins opened the match with a 4-1 lead. The world No.61 Cornet leveled the first set at 5-5, but Collins decisively broke in the 12th game that proved to be the final game of a tight first set.
