Coco Gauff, currently ranked world number six, has ended her partnership with coach Brad Gilbert, just weeks after her unsuccessful US Open title defense. The 20-year-old American star, who won her first Grand Slam under Gilbert’s guidance last year, suffered a fourth-round defeat to compatriot Emma Navarro at this year’s tournament, prompting the decision to part ways.
Gilbert, a highly experienced coach who has worked with tennis greats such as Andre Agassi, Andy Murray, and Andy Roddick, expressed his appreciation for the journey he shared with Gauff.
