Caroline Wozniacki became the latest player to suffer an injury scare before Wimbledon when she retired with a back problem after 10 minutes of her Aegon International semi-final against Belinda Bencic, who will face Agnieszka Radwanska in Saturday’s final.
The world No5, who is due to face China’s Saisai Zheng in the first round of Wimbledon on Tuesday, called for the trainer when she was trailing 3-0 after dropping her serve twice. Wozniacki, who is the No2 seed in Eastbourne, tried to stretch her hamstring and her back by the side of the court, before deciding that she could not continue after discussions with the trainer.
