The WTA has never seen an all-Swiss final and the wait is not over, as Switzerland's Timea Bacsinszky lost today in the semifinals of her home tournament Ladies Championship Gstaad, while her countrywoman Victoria Golubic advanced to the title match.
As heavy rain interfered with the early days of the tournament, quarterfinal action opened this Saturday and was followed by semifinal matches.
Bacsinszky and Bertens both made short work of their quarterfinal opponents, Johanna
Larsson and Irina Khromacheva, respectively, while their semifinal lasted one hour and 49 minutes.
