British number two Aljaz Bedene has been knocked out of the Valencia Open at the second round, defeated in straight sets by Vasek Pospisil.
The 26-year-old, who is at a career-high world ranking of 48, lost 6-3 6-4.
Slovenia-born Bedene, who gained UK citizenship in March, had beaten French eighth seed Jeremy Chardy 3-6 6-2 6-1 in the first round.
Canadian Pospisil, 25, goes on to play either German qualifier Daniel Brands or top seed David Ferrer of Spain.
