The Australian Open announced on Saturday that Spain’s Paula Badosa and Australia’s Ajla Tomljanovic have withdrawn from the 2023 edition of the Grand Slam event.
The reason for Badosa’s withdrawal is officially stated to be an abductor injury. This does not come as a surprise, as the world No.11 withdrew from her semifinal against Daria Kasatkina at the Adelaide International 2 this week due to a right thigh injury.
“During the quarterfinal match in Adelaide, I hurt myself and after receiving the results I will have to be out a few weeks,” the 25-year-old Badosa explained on social media.
