The Grand Slam tournaments are over for 2017, and as another tour season nears its end with the Paris Masters, the men are playing for the trophies, the prize money and the remainder of the eight available slots in the prestigious ATP World Tour Finals.
But there is also a less obvious objective: year-end rankings and the bonuses and perks that go with them.
The bonuses come from a variety of sources, including racket and clothing sponsors, and the money matters, often a great deal, to the players, although less to those who are at the top end of the tennis food chain.
