Amanda Anisimova saved two match points to knock out defending champion Naomi Osaka in the third round of the 2022 Australian Open, 4-6 6-3 7-6 (10-5).
The world No.60 Anisimova snapped a nine-match losing streak against Top 20 players as she recorded a memorable victory over Osaka, a two-time Australian Open champion who had won 24 of her past 25 matches in the city of Melbourne.
The 13th-seeded Osaka kicked off the match with a break and held on to it throughout the first set. In the second set, Anisimova was the first one to go up a break, in the fourth game, and she also kept that lead to claim the set.
