KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee offensive coordinator Mike DeBord is leaving to take the same position at Indiana. Speculation had been running rampant that Butch Jones was going to hire a new coordinator during the offseason and that now is a reality.
With former Oregon coach Mark Helfrich stopping by the Vols’ bowl practice in Nashville last week while visiting Marcus Mariota, many observers were thinking he could be an ideal replacement. I’m not ruling that out entirely, but based on what Jones has said, I would be shocked if the new OC isn’t already on the staff.
