The image so prominently displayed on the backside of the most focal point of Neyland Stadium – the jumbotron – is that of former Tennessee coach Butch Jones.
On a campus known for both construction and eyesores, the towering image of the program’s fired coach is an ongoing source of public frustration. That Jones’ picture is still there more than 100 days after the end of his five-year tenure is a daily topic on social media and gets plenty of discussion on radio and TV airwaves.
It even prompted a tweet, more than eight weeks ago, from the official account of UT chancellor Beverly Davenport.
