KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – NFL scouts will tell you the best defensive end – and maybe the best player overall – for the 2017 draft is Texas A&M junior Myles Garrett.
Garrett is 6 feet 5 and 270 pounds, runs a 4.46 in the 40 and has a 38.5-inch vertical jump. Tennessee junior Derek Barnett is 6-3, 270 and doesn’t run as fast or jump as high as Garrett.
But Barnett’s stats in SEC games surpass those of Garrett.
In 18 SEC games, Barnett has 21 sacks and 32.5 tackles for loss.
In 18 SEC games, Garrett has 11 sacks and 17 tackles for loss.
