The reaction to the notion that Tennessee shouldn’t play Alabama every season has been a bit comical.
Knoxville News Sentinel columnist John Adams wasn’t the first to propose the notion when he did so earlier this week. The idea has been discussed, and Adams simply proposed it once again.
There are two reasons the Alabama-Tennessee game should remain an annual event. The first is easy: tradition. It’s one of the most storied matchups in all of football (the teams have met 98 times, dating to 1901). The second should be ingrained among Tennessee fans: pride.
