Jones was given a $650,000 raise last season, when his contract was extended through 2020. There was no extension this time around, and the buyout figures changed slightly. I’m all for people making money, though if you asked me if a raise was warranted, I would say no.
When you look at how the season went, Jones and his staff were a major factor in the Vols blowing fourth-quarter leads against two playoff teams. In addition, the Vols beat just three teams with winning records in 2015 — and two of those were Bowling Green and FCS member Western Carolina.
