If there’s one thing that Tennessee hasn’t lost in their decade of despair, it’s the ability to produce ridiculously talented punters. It’s become a legitimate pipeline to the NFL and Joe Doyle appears ready to be the next name through.
Doyle, a local redshirt freshman walk-on, beat out freshman Paxton Brooks for the job during the preseason. This week he was named to USA Today’s Freshman All-American team.
Doyle had plenty of opportunities this year, punting for one of the worst offenses in the FBS. He averaged 41 yards per kick and ranked 36th nationally in net punting.
