University of Tennessee visitors’ guide: what to do in Knoxville on game day

If you’ve ever been to Knoxville, whether it’s football season or not, it’s hard to go longer than a few minutes without running into every Knoxvillian’s favorite color – orange.

With nearly 180,000 people living in the city limits, Knoxville is bigger than most other SEC towns, but it’s still the southern charmed football town you would expect.

One of the unique aspects about game day at Tennessee, unlike any other school in the SEC, is the Vol Navy. Boats line up and double, triple or quadruple park each other days and weeks before game day along the docks that sit next to the south end zone of Neyland Stadium on the Tennessee River.
