With fires devastating parts of eastern Tennessee, Volunteers fans are joining together to help their neighbors recover from the disaster.
The University of Tennessee announced a campaign to raise funds for relief efforts for victims of the fires, which have caused extensive damage in areas near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
The worst-hit town, Gatlinburg, is only about 30 miles east-southeast of Knoxville. Dozens of buildings have been burned as the fire began to sweep through the town Monday night; most of the town had been evacuated.
The university is asking for donations of bottled water, toiletries and snack items for delivery to the victims.
