U-G-L-Y: what to think of Volunteers 14-3 win over Charlotte?

That… was ugly.

If you were in Neyland Stadium on Saturday afternoon, and stayed for all 60 minutes, God Bless You.

There wasn’t much offense. There weren’t many exciting plays. It was a meeting of two teams with A LOT of room for improvement, and the end result was a forgettable four quarters of football.

Tennessee beat Charlotte 14-3. Here are my five takeaways.

1) The Non-existent Run Game

Tennessee ran the football 26 times for 20 yards. The Vols averaged 0.8 yards per carry. The Vols leading rusher was Jeremy Banks with 24 yards.
