A United States district court judge ruled Tuesday that a federal Title IX lawsuit against the University of Tennessee can proceed as planned. The school had asked that the case be thrown out.
The Tennessean newspaper of Nashville reported that Judge Aleta Trauger did grant a motion to throw out a portion of the suit, ruling that the statute of limitations had expired for one plaintiff’s claim “alleging a pattern and practice of deliberate indifference to sexual assaults and misconduct by UT athletes” before her alleged assault at the hands of a basketball player in 2013.
