Tennessee’s Mike DeBord says he’s mellowed out over the years

DeBord was asked a simple question that led to an intriguing comment: Are some of UT’s young offensive linemen testing your patience?

“They’re not testing my patience,” DeBord said. “I know through my years of coaching, it takes time (to learn how to play tackle, guard or center).”

DeBord said he thought the most challenging position to play on offense isn’t quarterback; it’s the line.

“It’s the hardest to play, the hardest to learn,” DeBord said. “One bad step and you’re in trouble.”

Mike DeBord says his 33 years in coaching have led him to think that the toughest position to play on offense is anywhere along the line.
