Tennessee’s Alexis Johnson pleads not guilty to 2 charges

reports that Johnson’s attorney, Gregory Isaac, entered the plea Tuesday morning “because he is not guilty.”

Isaac said the incident was Johnson and the woman “play fighting” before the horseplay got out of hand.

Johnson is accused of putting his hands around the alleged victim’s neck “two or three” times. He also is accused of blocking the doorway when she was trying to leave the bedroom.

Johnson, a transfer from Fort Scott (Kan.) Junior College, is due back in court for a preliminary hearing April 21. He has been suspended from all team activities.
