Head coach Butch Jones said during his weekly press conference Monday that defensive back and kick returner Evan Berry is out for the season.
Berry, a senior, earned All-American honors for his kick returns in 2015, but has struggled with injuries since then. He has been limited to just four kickoff returns this season, although he’s been effective when he has gotten the opportunity – those returns have averaged more than 35 yards, including a season long of 51.
He also missed much of 2016 due to a knee injury.
Berry isn’t the only Vols player with injury concerns going into Saturday’s game against Missouri, a critical game for Tennessee to reach bowl eligibility.
