Long rumored, now official: Tennessee has promoted Larry Scott to offensive coordinator, replacing Mike DeBord, and hired Mike Canales as its new quarterback coach.
Scott came to the Vols last year after serving as Miami’s interim coach between Al Golden and Mark Richt. He coached tight ends and special teams in 2016, but was reportedly more heavily involved in the offense as the season went along. He never served as offensive coordinator through three years at Miami and eight at South Florida.
Canales was the offensive coordinator at South Florida when Scott was on staff there in 2009 before moving to North Texas and then Utah State.
