Looking better against an FCS school than you did against a Top 20 team with a Heisman caliber candidate isn’t saying much. Tennessee football should have beaten the ETSU Buccaneers, and that’s exactly what they did.
A 59-3 win over this team is going to do very little to quell any concerns, or show any positives, related to the Vols. The Bucs aren’t yet even a good program by FCS standards, as former UT offensive coordinator Randy Sanders is still working to rebuild the program.
However, Tennessee football’s win does reveal a few consistent themes now that we can gauge after two weeks.
