Tennessee football: Vols reportedly starting Brian Maurer at QB against Georgia Bulldogs

A change has been made. After 16 games of unwavering loyalty from Jeremy Pruitt, 18 straight starts and 22 starts in the Vols’ last 23 games, Jarrett Guarantano will not start for Tennessee football against the Georgia Bulldogs Saturday night. That job is now going to Brian Maurer.

Chris Low of ESPN reported the switch Friday evening. Maurer saw action for the Vols against the Florida Gators, as he started the second half and directed their only scoring drive of the game in a 34-3 loss on the road. The 6’3″ 193-pound true freshman from Ocala, Fla.
