As Jeremy Pruitt takes over for his first year as the new Tennessee football head coach, the only person with high expectations for him to perform is, well, himself. One quick glance at the Vols’ current situation, their 4-8 season last year and the changes in schemes makes that clear.
Pruitt wouldn’t be in bad company, though, if he had a rough first year. Nick Saban, his mentor, struggled his first year with the Alabama Crimson Tide and his first three years with the Michigan State Spartans.
Remember legendary coaches like Bear Bryant? He went 1-9 his first year with the Texas A&M Aggies.
