Before spring practice began for Tennessee football, a few notes were already out there. Quavaris Couch and Wanya Morris would miss spring practice due to injury, four early enrollees from a top 10 recruiting class would be competing for starting spots, and there would be multiple new staff members and different roles for returning staff members.
However, even with all of that, the start of spring practice still brought out a few surprises. Based on the release of the roster, which Trey Wallace of The Read Optional revealed on Twitter, players who were seen out there at practice and things Jeremy Pruitt said after the first practice, which Wes Rucker of GoVols247 reported, there were a lot of new developments.
