KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee defensive tackle Alexis Johnson has been cleared by a school Student Judicial Panel, opening the chance for him to return to the team. Johnson has been suspended since February.
“Alexis looks forward to resuming his athletic and academic career at Tennessee,” said Greg Isaacs, Johnson’s attorney.
UT athletic department spokesman Ryan Robinson said coach Butch Jones is aware of the ruling but that Johnson’s status has not changed
The judicial hearing was Wednesday.
Johnson, a junior college transfer who enrolled in January, was arrested in February for aggravated assault by strangulation and false imprisonment and immediately suspended from team activities.
