Tennessee cancels classes for September 1 home opener

If nothing else, Jeremy Foley has learned to keep a secret. Just about all of his closest friends and associates were taken back by the news Monday that after 25 years as Florida’s athletic director, he is officially stepping down October 1.

That includes the other three members of “The Big Four” who rode together with him over two-and-a-half decades of excellence in college sports: Steve Spurrier, Billy Donovan and Urban Meyer. They produced five national championships and 16 SEC trophies.

“Jeremy Foley will go down as the greatest athletic director in the school history with all those championships – three of them in football as well as all those other sports,” Spurrier told me.
