Former Florida and South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier was effusive in his praise of Pat Summitt on Monday, calling her “one of the best of all-time.”
Spurrier talked about Summitt, whose family released a statement Sunday saying “the past few days have been difficult,” on the “Frank Frangie Show” on Jacksonville’s 1010XL AM.
“Coach Summitt was one of the best, there’s no question about that,” Spurrier said. “When I got the job at Florida in 1990, she was on her way in the ’80s there (at Tennessee), winning championships and so forth. I would see her at the SEC head coaches meetings in Destin and got to know her a little bit there.
