Howard's up and down career ends on a sad note for Tennessee fans.
Tennessee head coach Butch Jones announced the dismissal of senior wide receiver Alton "Pig" Howard Wednesday, due to an unspecified violation of team rules.
"Alton Howard, as you all are very aware of, he's had concussion-like symptoms and many nagging injuries," Jones said. "However, he has been dismissed from the football team and [that is] totally unrelated to his injuries."
Howard was suspended for the Vols' opener against Bowling Green, also for an unspecified violation and had only appeared in two of the team's five games after battling injuries all season.
