Communication. Trust. Warmth. They’re not words regularly associated with Tennessee’s athletic program in recent years, but new athletic director Phillip Fulmer is planning to change that.
Fulmer discussed the Vols’ transition in an extended interview with former Vols quarterback Erik Ainge on Sports Radio WNML in Knoxville, Tenn.
Fulmer said he wanted to bring back the “warmth” to Tennessee football. While not naming former football head coach Butch Jones or athletic director John Currie, he implied that the warmth was lacking under the previous regime.
“We’ve got to do this with warmth. That warmth means you care about each other, you care about the kids that you’re coaching, the student-athletes that we have, and you care about the people and the experience that you give them,” Fulmer said.
