Tennessee doesn’t seem to have as high of expectations as it did going into last season. Still, former Volunteers coach Phillip Fulmer thinks the program remains headed in the right direction under Butch Jones.
Fulmer said Friday on WNML’s “The 1st Quarter” in Knoxville, Tennessee that the Vols were “really close to getting there.”
“We haven’t quite gotten to where everybody wants,” Fulmer said. “That’s including the coaches, the most. Nobody wants to it more than the coaches and players do. I can sympathize.”
When asked if it was fair to expect 10 wins every year from a program, Fulmer seemed to suggest that it wasn’t because of the overall strength of teams across college football and, particularly, in the SEC.
