The No. 8 Tennessee Volunteers (6-0) came into Wednesday night’s matchup looking to keep its record clean before the start of conference play. Little did the Vols know that the USC Upstate Spartans (0-8) would give them a little more trouble than they initially thought in the beginning.
But Tennessee would eventually get its act together and go on to win in double-digit fashion. The Vols will now enter SEC play with a spotless record.
Tennessee could only manage a seven-point lead at halftime thanks to 41.4 percent shooting from the floor that included a 2-of-10 mark from beyond the arc.
