MLK Day: 10 Tennessee Vols Who Upheld the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

In many ways, his dream became a reality. Yes, there are still numerous racial issues in the United States. But when Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke of a dream where people of all races and backgrounds could come together and sit at the same table.

That particular portion of the dream has never rang more true in athletics across the country, and especially in the deep south. In 1963, when King gave that speech, there was not one minority football player at an SEC school.

Now, minorities represent those schools in huge numbers and have fans of all backgrounds looking up to them, cheering for them, and feeling a huge sense of pride for how they represent their alma mater after they left.
