Although we all knew how he secretly felt about it, former Tennessee Volunteers defensive coordinator John Chavis’s dismay with how Phillip Fulmer was treated when he was fired in 2008 has now become public…sort of.
According to The Advocate, a court deposition reveals that Chavis warned Miles in 2014 that a provision added by LSU to assistant coaches’ contracts was a first step towards firing him. He then told Miles they were doing to him what Tennessee did to Fulmer.
The provision removes any requirements of the Tigers to honor assistants’ contracts if Miles is fired or resigns.
