Mason Meyer remembered what happened last time the Liberty Flames played the Tennessee Volunteers.
He wasn’t going to let it happen again.
After sitting through a three-hour weather delay, Meyer was sensational for the Flames during the Regional Opener on Friday night, allowing just one run off of five hits in 6.1 innings pitched. Meyer (6-4) received the win as the Flames dispatched the Vols, 6-1.
It was a far cry from the first time these two teams met in the regular season. Tennessee dismantled Liberty, 7-1, behind nine hits and seven RBIs in 33 at-bats.
