Is Mike DeBord’s exit the cure for Tennessee’s woes? Not likely

Mike DeBord wasn’t the problem this season. He won’t be part of the solution next season.

Tennessee’s offensive coordinator has stepped down after two seasons in Knoxville. For whatever reason, DeBord had been the target of fan criticism for much of the disastrous 2016 season. But that never made much sense.

The Vols finished second in the SEC at 36.4 points per game, trailing only Alabama, and set a school single-season record for points. On the flip side, UT’s defense was especially inept late in the season and finished ninth in the SEC in scoring defense at 28.
