KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee coach Butch Jones said he will never apologize for a win. Maybe he should apologize for his defense.
Tennessee had to sweat out a 49-36 victory over Kentucky on Saturday in a crucial game Saturday that kept its SEC East title hopes alive.
It wouldn’t have been that close if the Volunteers’ defense hadn’t been so deficient. Kentucky rushed for 443 yards – a near record against a UT defense – and had five guys with more than 70 rushing yards. The Wildcats finished with a whopping 635 yards and reminded fans of the dreadful defense that Sal Sunseri put on the field in 2012.
