How will new Tennessee chancellor view Dave Hart?

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – It’s only natural to wonder about your job security when a new boss is hired. A new boss can have a whole new vision about the direction of a company or, in this case, a university and its athletic department. Change always is a possibility.

The University of Tennessee announced Tuesday that chancellor Jimmy Cheek will step down from his post once the board of regents can find his successor. One of his subordinates has had a rather up-and-down tenure at Tennessee. Athletic director Dave Hart was hired in 2011 and his current contract runs through 2018.
