Tennessee headed to Auburn on a program-worst 11-game losing streak in SEC play. The Vols hadn’t won a conference contest since November of 2016. That ineptitude is a thing of the past after Tennessee knocked off the 21st-ranked Tigers 30-24.
The win was no fluke. Here are my five takeaways.
1) Guarantano The Great
There haven’t been many memorable moments for Tennessee’s redshirt sophomore quarterback. Jarrett Guarantano has taken a physical and emotional beating, but Saturday at Auburn was his finest hour. He completed 21 or 32 passes for 328 yards and two scores.
