Get to know the 2017 Tennessee Volunteers: John Kelly

Related Topics: Carry

Junior running back John Kelly will get the lion’s share of carries for Tennessee for this first time in his career.

After spending most of his first two seasons behind Jalen Hurd and Alvin Kamara, Kelly made his first career start against Tennessee Tech last season and recorded a career-best 104 yards and a touchdown on just seven attempts.

With Hurd transferring and Kamara to the pros, the Vols need Kelly to have a big year.

Kelly rushed for 630 yards last season. He averaged 6.3 yards per carry overall and at least 5.6 yards per carry in four of the five games in which he had double-digit rushing attempts.
