KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Forward Willie Carmichael is transferring from Tennessee.
Tennessee athletic department spokesman Tom Satkowiak confirmed Tuesday that Carmichael had filled out the necessary paperwork to transfer and had been granted a release. The Knoxville News-Sentinel first reported Carmichael was planning to transfer.
Carmichael, a 6-foot-8 forward from Apopka, Florida, averaged 3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 14.8 minutes per game while struggling with foul trouble as a freshman this past season. He played in 32 games and made 19 starts.
Carmichael committed 101 fouls, the highest single-season total by a Tennessee player since Brian Williams also had 101 in 2010-11.
