Former Tennessee defensive end Mykelle McDaniel will transfer to UAB, he announced Saturday evening on Twitter.
Blazers coach Bill Clark appeared to confirm on Twitter that McDaniel will join the program. McDaniel then retweeted Clark’s tweet.
The 6-foot-3, 220-pound McDaniel spent last fall at Tennessee, where he redshirted in his lone season at the school. He will have to sit out the 2017 season due to NCAA transfer rules.
McDaniel was suspended indefinitely by Tennessee last December but rejoined the Volunteers during spring practice. He left the team in May with plans to transfer.
McDaniel signed with Tennessee last August as a late addition to the Vols’ 2016 recruiting class.
