Ex-Vols star Charles Davis says fans should give John Currie time — but knows some won’t

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee athletics has few ambassadors greater than Charles Davis.

Davis, who played safety for Tennessee in the mid-1980s, has worn many hats since his college playing days. He is an analyst for NFL games on Fox. He has called national championship college games. He recently covered the NFL Scouting Combine for the NFL Network.

He served on the U.S. Olympic Committee, was assistant athletic director at Stanford and chaired a PGA golf tournament in Orlando, his current residence.

He has even been asked more than once to work in the UT athletic department.
