For those of you unfamiliar with the case: In 2006, three Duke lacrosse players were charged with sexually assaulting a woman during a party at an off-campus home. The players were white. The woman, who was serving as a stripper at the party, was black. She picked the three players out of a photo lineup and charged that they had sexually assaulted her.
Here is what we learned from the documentary:
* Because it touched on all the hot elements in society — race, class, entitled athletes, town vs. gown — the case went from a local crime story to a national debate on all those subjects.
