Insert the 12-team playoff and new-look power conferences, and adjustments had to be made to my formula, which I wrote about a little over a year and a half ago here. The SEC and Big Ten have only grown stronger while a conference like the Big 12 has relied on replacing its top two teams by filling out the depth of the conference.
