Carter, Randolph Named Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Semifinalists

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee student-athletes Andraya Carter and Brian Randolph have been named as semifinalists for the 2016 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award by Diverse magazine.

The Sport Scholars Awards were established in the name of Ashe in 1992 to honor undergraduate students of color who exemplify the standards set by tennis legend who sought to expand opportunities for young people during his life.

The semifinalists were chosen from more than 1,000 outstanding minority student-athletes nominated by their respective institutions. To be nominated, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.
